September 5, 2025: The Pune Traffic Police have announced extensive traffic diversions and road closures for Saturday, September 6, to ensure smooth and safe conduct of Ganesh Visarjan processions across the city. The measures will particularly impact areas around Chaturshringi and other prominent immersion sites, where large crowds are expected.
According to officials, the traffic management plan has been designed to prevent congestion and maintain safety for devotees participating in the Ganesh Visarjan celebrations. Key roads leading to Chaturshringi, including University Road, Paud Road, and nearby streets, will witness temporary closures during the immersion processions. Commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance and use alternative routes to avoid delays.
The Pune Traffic Police have also deployed additional personnel at major intersections and immersion points to facilitate orderly movement of vehicles and pedestrians. Special attention will be given to emergency vehicle access, with clear lanes maintained for ambulances and fire services.
Authorities have requested citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel and adhere to the designated routes. Public transport services, including buses, may also experience rerouting or temporary delays. Officials emphasized that these measures are essential to manage the massive turnout expected during the festival and to prevent accidents or untoward incidents.
Additionally, devotees have been encouraged to follow safety protocols, avoid overcrowding near immersion sites, and keep a close watch on children during the celebrations. Traffic updates will be shared regularly on official Pune Traffic Police social media channels to keep commuters informed about real-time road conditions.
The Ganesh Visarjan festival, marking the culmination of the ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, attracts thousands of devotees to various immersion sites across Pune. With the city expecting record attendance this year, authorities have stressed the importance of careful planning, patience, and adherence to traffic guidelines to ensure a smooth and incident-free celebration.
