Gold Hits Record ₹1.10 Lakh per 10 Grams on MCX Amid Global Uncertainty

gold price surges

September 10, 2025 — Gold prices surged to fresh all-time highs on Tuesday, with MCX gold futures crossing ₹1.10 lakh per 10 grams, driven by weak U.S. jobs data, expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut, and ongoing global economic uncertainties. Internationally, Comex gold also touched $3,694 per ounce, signaling a strong rally in safe-haven assets.

Domestic gold futures saw the December contract rise by ₹458, or 0.41%, to ₹1,10,047 per 10 grams, while the October contract climbed to ₹1,09,000 per 10 grams. Analysts attribute this spike to growing investor demand for gold amid concerns over slowing economic growth and persistent market volatility.

“The global economic scenario, coupled with soft U.S. employment data, has heightened demand for gold as a secure investment,” said a senior market analyst. “Investors are increasingly turning to precious metals to hedge against uncertainties and potential currency fluctuations.”

Silver also recorded gains, with MCX silver futures rising by 0.55% to ₹1,415 per kilogram, reflecting a broader trend of rising precious metal prices.

Market experts believe that the current gold rally may continue if central banks, particularly the U.S. Federal Reserve, adopt a dovish stance on interest rates. Historically, lower rates tend to reduce the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like gold, boosting their appeal to investors.

Gold jewelry demand in India, traditionally a key driver of domestic prices, is also expected to benefit from this surge, particularly ahead of the festive season. Retailers have reported increased footfall as consumers seek to buy gold amid record prices.

In summary, gold’s record-breaking performance reflects a combination of global economic risks, investor sentiment, and expectations of monetary easing. Analysts advise keeping a close watch on U.S. economic indicators and central bank announcements, which could influence the trajectory of gold prices in the coming weeks.
