Police Kill Two Shooters Linked to Attack on Disha Patani’s Ancestral Home in Bareilly

Disha Patani home firing

Two alleged members of the Goldy Brar–Rohit Godara gang were killed in a police encounter in Ghaziabad after they were identified as being involved in the firing outside actress Disha Patani’s ancestral home in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The incident has raised serious concerns about organised crime networks operating across northern India.

According to officials, CCTV footage from September 12 showed two men arriving on a motorcycle and opening fire outside Patani’s residence in Civil Lines. The video revealed that the attackers had conducted reconnaissance before carrying out the shooting, which involved multiple rounds, including aerial firing. Senior police officials stated that the act was aimed at spreading fear rather than targeting property damage or loss of life.

The shooters were identified as Ravindra, also known as Kallu, from Rohtak, and Arun from Sonipat. Both were said to be active operatives of the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar syndicate. Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint team of the Delhi Police Special Cell, Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, and Haryana STF tracked the duo to Tronica City in Ghaziabad. During the exchange of fire, both men were killed.

Weapons recovered from the spot included foreign-made Zigana pistols sourced from Pakistan and Glock pistols of Austrian origin. Officials noted that the presence of these firearms pointed to international arms smuggling routes frequently used by gangs associated with Goldy Brar.

Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Amitabh Yash, said that while two attackers carried out the firing, two others had conducted reconnaissance and remained absconding. A manhunt has been launched to track down the remaining suspects.

Investigators indicated that the motive for the attack may have been linked to remarks made by the actress’s sister, Khushboo Patani, about spiritual leaders Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. Soon after the firing, social media handles linked to the Goldy Brar gang claimed responsibility for the incident, citing the remarks as offensive to Sanatana Dharma.

The attack, followed by the swift police encounter, has intensified scrutiny of gang operations and their ability to infiltrate high-profile cases. Officials stressed that such incidents are designed to spread fear and demonstrate the reach of criminal groups. Security around the Patani family home has been strengthened, while agencies continue efforts to apprehend the two absconding shooters.

The case underscores the continuing influence of organised crime in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, the dangers posed by cross-border arms smuggling, and the vulnerability of public figures to intimidation tactics.
