India’s Military Chiefs Warn Pakistan Over Cross‑Border Terrorism

India’s Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, and Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh issued a strong warning to Pakistan on Saturday, urging Islamabad to end support for cross‑border terrorism or face serious consequences. Their statement referenced “Operation Sindoor,” the precision strikes carried out by India in May 2025 against terrorist infrastructure inside Pakistan and Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir (PoK).

General Dwivedi, speaking to troops in Rajasthan, stressed that India’s measured approach during Operation Sindoor should not be mistaken for weakness. He said India was prepared to take decisive action if Pakistan continued to back terrorist groups, and warned of the possibility of a follow‑up operation if such activities persisted. “Pakistan must reconsider its course if it wishes to remain relevant in the region,” he added.

Air Chief Marshal Singh supported this stance, highlighting the Indian Air Force’s achievements during the operation. He stated that the IAF had destroyed multiple Pakistani assets, including a significant number of fighter jets and key infrastructure, without causing civilian casualties. Singh described the strikes as a demonstration of India’s operational readiness and deterrence capability.

Operation Sindoor was launched in May 2025 as a direct response to a major terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians. India targeted nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and PoK, claiming the operation was precise and limited to militant infrastructure. A ceasefire was agreed shortly after, which India said was requested by Pakistan.

The warnings from India’s top military leaders come amid domestic political debate. Opposition parties have questioned inconsistencies in official accounts of the operation and demanded greater clarity. Security analysts note that the statements reflect a firmer strategic posture by India, aimed at deterring further attacks, while also serving as a domestic signal of strength.

International actors, including major powers, have called for restraint on both sides and stressed the need for dialogue to prevent escalation. Experts warn that strong rhetoric carries the risk of further inflaming tensions in an already volatile region.

The joint statement by the Army and Air Force chiefs makes clear that Operation Sindoor has become a benchmark in India’s counter‑terrorism strategy. Whether Pakistan responds or changes its policies remains uncertain, but India’s leadership has made it clear that it is prepared to act decisively to safeguard its national security.
