Patna, October 9, 2025 — In a significant stride towards the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) has released its first list of 51 candidates, marking its formal entry into electoral politics. The list showcases a diverse array of professionals, including mathematicians, lawyers, doctors, former bureaucrats, and retired police officers, reflecting the party’s commitment to fielding individuals with clean records and expertise.
Diverse Representation and Professional Inclusion
Among the notable candidates is Professor KC Sinha, a renowned mathematician and former Vice Chancellor of Patna University. His textbooks have been a staple in Bihar’s educational curriculum for decades. Sinha will contest from the Kumhrar constituency, bringing academic credibility to the party’s roster.
The list also includes individuals from various professional backgrounds, such as law, medicine, and civil services. This strategic inclusion aims to present an alternative to traditional political figures, emphasizing competence and integrity. Additionally, the party has fielded candidates from diverse communities, with 16% Muslims and 17% from extremely backward classes, underscoring its commitment to inclusive representation.
Strategic Political Moves
The JSP’s candidate selection reflects a deliberate strategy to challenge the status quo in Bihar’s political landscape. By recruiting professionals with established reputations, the party seeks to appeal to voters disillusioned with conventional politics. This approach aligns with Kishor’s vision of a corruption-free and development-oriented Bihar.
Notably, the party has also launched a crowdfunding initiative, the Jan Suraaj Contribution app, to finance its election campaign. The initiative has received enthusiastic responses, indicating a growing grassroots movement in support of the party’s mission.
Looking Ahead
As the election date approaches, the JSP is set to intensify its campaign. Prashant Kishor is scheduled to commence the party’s election outreach from Raghopur on October 11, signaling the start of a vigorous effort to connect with voters. With its diverse candidate pool and strategic initiatives, Jan Suraaj aims to make a significant impact in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, offering voters a fresh alternative in the state’s political arena.
