In a significant breakthrough against terrorism, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested three suspected ISIS operatives near the Adalaj Toll Plaza in Gandhinagar. The arrests, made earlier this week, have reportedly averted a major terror plot that was aimed at targeting sensitive locations and public spaces across multiple Indian cities, including Delhi, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad.
According to ATS officials, the arrested individuals had allegedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) and were in the final stages of planning coordinated attacks. Investigations have revealed that the suspects had conducted reconnaissance of several high-security and crowded areas, including Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) offices, railway stations, and market zones. Their activities suggested a well-structured terror module with potential links to foreign handlers.
Preliminary interrogations indicated that the trio entered Gujarat with the intent to establish local networks and procure weapons for planned strikes. Officials recovered digital devices, incriminating documents, and communication data that hint at cross-border connections. Sources within the investigation disclosed that the accused were in touch with ISIS operatives through encrypted social media platforms. These channels were reportedly used to receive instructions, funds, and logistical support. The suspects had also attempted to recruit local youths by spreading extremist propaganda and misusing online platforms to radicalize vulnerable individuals.
