Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, May 26, 2025 — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has served a show-cause notice to Amar Kishore Kashyap, the party’s Gonda district president, following the circulation of a controversial video purportedly showing him in an inappropriate situation with a woman inside the party’s district office.
The video, allegedly recorded on April 12, appears to depict Kashyap engaging in unsolicited physical contact with a woman on a staircase within the premises of the party office. The footage, which has rapidly gone viral on social media, has triggered public outrage and prompted a formal complaint from a BJP party worker, who labeled the incident as “shameful.”
In response to the backlash, the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh state leadership has demanded a written explanation from Kashyap within seven days. The notice, issued by State General Secretary Govind Narayan Shukla, cites the incident as a violation of party discipline and damaging to the BJP’s public image.
Kashyap, however, has denied any misconduct. He claims the woman seen in the video is also a party worker who was feeling unwell on the day of the incident. According to his account, he was assisting her after she became dizzy while ascending the stairs. Kashyap further alleged that the video has been deliberately manipulated by political opponents seeking to defame him and destabilize his leadership in the district.
The party has made it clear that if the explanation provided is unsatisfactory, disciplinary measures will be taken in accordance with the BJP’s internal code of conduct.
