Bengaluru, June 5 — According to recent reports, Bengaluru Police had requested Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to postpone their IPL 2025 victory parade and celebrations to Sunday. The police cited logistical challenges and public safety concerns as the primary reasons behind the suggestion.

Sources reveal that the police had advised RCB management that conducting the celebrations on Sunday would allow better crowd control and traffic management. However, the franchise reportedly declined the request, insisting on holding the celebrations on the originally scheduled day, Saturday.

A senior Bengaluru Police official told media that law enforcement resources were stretched due to multiple concurrent events and regular weekend duties. “We suggested Sunday to ensure safer and smoother conduct of the victory parade,” the official said. Despite this, RCB’s insistence on Saturday’s event proceeded, leading to massive crowds and heavy traffic congestion in Bengaluru.

Saturday’s celebrations saw thousands of enthusiastic RCB fans thronging the streets from Cubbon Park to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The parade featured the team’s players waving to supporters from an open-deck bus, followed by a grand event at the stadium with performances and speeches.

While the celebrations were jubilant, the police faced challenges in managing the large turnout. A Bengaluru Police spokesperson confirmed deployment of over 1,000 personnel to maintain order and reported no major incidents during the event.

The report has ignited discussions regarding the coordination between city authorities and event organizers in managing large-scale public events. Fans have expressed mixed reactions, appreciating the immediate celebrations but also voicing concerns about the crowded conditions.

RCB’s maiden IPL title win remains a landmark achievement for the franchise and its supporters, with the celebrations reflecting the city’s passion for cricket despite the logistical hurdles.
