New Driving Test Centers to Open in Hadapsar, Alandi Road, and Dive Ghat to Ease Pune RTO Congestion

Pune, June 5, 2025 — The Maharashtra Transport Department has announced the launch of three new driving test centers in Hadapsar, Alandi Road, and Dive Ghat. This initiative aims to reduce the overcrowding and long wait times currently experienced at the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO).

The new centers have been strategically located to serve residents from different parts of Pune and its outskirts, allowing applicants to take their driving tests closer to home. The growing number of vehicle registrations in the city has led to increased pressure on the central RTO office, causing delays in the issuance of driving licenses.

Each driving test center will be equipped with modern facilities, including computerized test modules and dedicated test tracks, to ensure a smooth and standardized evaluation process. Trained examiners will oversee the tests to maintain transparency and quality.

Officials from the Maharashtra Transport Department stated that these additional centers would improve appointment availability and reduce waiting periods for applicants. This move is also expected to allow the Pune RTO headquarters to focus on other critical administrative functions.

Residents of Pune’s suburban areas are expected to benefit significantly from the decentralization of driving test services. The department hopes the new centers will make the licensing process more convenient and efficient for a large section of the population.

This development reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to improve public service delivery in the transport sector and address the challenges posed by Pune’s rapid urban expansion.
