Social media influencer Kamal Kaur was found dead inside a car near Dirba in Punjab’s Sangrur district on Tuesday evening. The 30-year-old’s death is being treated as a suspected case of murder, according to police officials.
The body was discovered by local authorities after her family reported her missing. Kaur had left home earlier that day, stating she had a meeting, but failed to return. Concerned family members reached out to police when she became unreachable.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Lamba confirmed that injury marks were found on the body. “The circumstances are suspicious. We are treating the matter as a possible homicide and have initiated a thorough investigation,” he stated.
The police are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the surrounding areas and have begun questioning individuals who were in contact with Kaur in the hours leading up to her death. Her mobile phone data and recent communications are also under analysis.
Kaur was well known on social media for her fitness and motivational content, amassing a significant follower base across platforms. Her unexpected death has triggered shock among her followers and fellow influencers, with many expressing grief and demanding justice.
Her family has denied any indication of personal distress and maintains that she had no reason to harm herself. “She was focused on her work and mentally strong. We are shocked and devastated,” a family member said.
Police have yet to make any arrests but are exploring all possible leads, including personal enmity and professional rivalry. Forensic experts have also been called in to assist with the investigation.
“We will proceed based on forensic findings and post-mortem results. All evidence is being collected to determine what exactly happened,” said a police spokesperson.
