Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a strict directive mandating all shopkeepers and stall operators along the Kanwar Yatra route to prominently display name boards. The instruction was given during a high-level meeting held to review preparations for the ongoing pilgrimage.
The Chief Minister emphasized that every temporary or permanent vendor set up along the Yatra path must clearly display their name in front of their establishment. Officials have been directed to take immediate action against any stall or shop found operating without a name board.
“No shopkeeper or vendor will be allowed to function without a visible name board. This is necessary for accountability and to maintain law and order,” the Chief Minister stated.
The annual Kanwar Yatra, which sees millions of Shiva devotees travel to fetch holy water from the Ganga and offer it to Lord Shiva, is currently underway. The state administration anticipates the participation of over three crore pilgrims this year.
In light of the massive footfall, security has been stepped up across all key routes. Over 20,000 CCTV cameras have been installed, and drone surveillance is being used to monitor crowd movement. Police forces, rapid response teams, and medical units have been deployed along the route.
All district administrations have been instructed to ensure cleanliness, uninterrupted water and power supply, and proper crowd management. Temporary shelters, first aid camps, and food stalls have been established to assist the Kanwariyas.
Shopkeepers along the route are also being asked to register with local authorities. Permits for temporary setups will be granted only upon adherence to the guidelines issued by the government, including the name board requirement.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the public to maintain peace and harmony, and warned of strict action against those attempting to disturb communal unity during the religious event.
The administration has urged local committees and volunteers to assist officials in ensuring the safe and smooth conduct of the Yatra.
