Third Attack on ISKCON Temple in US Within a Month; Over 30 Gunshots Fired at Dome

ISKCON temple in US hit by 30 bullets in third attack this month.

A temple affiliated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in the United States has been attacked for the third time in less than 30 days. The most recent incident involved more than 30 bullets being fired at the temple’s dome, sparking serious concerns among the Hindu diaspora and religious communities worldwide.

The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at the ISKCON temple located in Seattle, Washington. Security footage shows unidentified individuals firing multiple rounds at the structure. The temple’s dome, a sacred architectural feature, sustained visible damage. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

This marks the third targeted incident against the same temple, following two similar attacks in June. While the earlier events caused limited harm, the latest assault involved a higher volume of gunfire and resulted in more severe structural impact.

ISKCON officials expressed their deep concern over the escalating attacks, calling them deliberate and deeply troubling. “We are deeply disturbed by the repeated assaults on our temple. This is not only an attack on a place of worship but also on the values of tolerance and mutual respect,” said an ISKCON spokesperson in a public statement.

Members of the Indian-American community and interfaith organizations have condemned the incident, describing it as a possible hate crime. Many community leaders have urged U.S. law enforcement agencies and the Department of Homeland Security to investigate thoroughly and ensure the safety of religious sites.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also addressed the matter, stating that they are in contact with U.S. authorities and consular officials to ensure the protection of Indian-origin institutions. The MEA emphasized the importance of safeguarding religious freedom and cultural heritage abroad.

Law enforcement agencies in Washington have increased security around the temple premises and initiated a thorough investigation. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and have appealed to the public to provide any information related to the suspects.

Meanwhile, various Hindu organizations across the U.S. have called for community vigilance and solidarity. Several groups are planning peaceful demonstrations and prayer vigils to express their disapproval and raise awareness about religious intolerance.

This series of attacks has reignited concerns over the growing trend of violence targeting religious minorities in the United States. According to recent hate crime statistics, places of worship belonging to South Asian communities are increasingly becoming vulnerable.
