9 July, 2025-Apple Inc. has officially appointed Indian-origin executive Sabih Khan as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), marking a significant change in the company’s top leadership. The announcement was made as part of a broader organizational reshuffle, with Khan set to take over responsibilities previously held by Jeff Williams.
Khan has been associated with Apple for nearly 30 years and has played a central role in managing the company’s global operations. In his previous position as Senior Vice President of Operations, Khan led several major initiatives aimed at improving manufacturing processes, increasing supply chain resilience, and advancing Apple’s sustainability targets.
Apple CEO Tim Cook commended Khan’s leadership, highlighting his role in reducing the company’s overall carbon emissions by more than 60 percent. Cook also credited Khan with implementing advanced technologies that significantly enhanced Apple’s production and logistics frameworks.
“Sabih has led with vision and purpose, transforming the way Apple builds products while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental responsibility,” said Cook in a company statement.
Khan’s efforts have included the integration of recycled materials into product manufacturing, the expansion of renewable energy usage across production facilities, and optimizing logistics to minimize waste. His initiatives have been crucial to Apple’s pledge of becoming fully carbon neutral by 2030.
Experts see Khan’s promotion as a strategic move, especially amid global supply chain disruptions and growing expectations for environmental accountability. His decades-long experience at Apple, combined with a forward-thinking approach to sustainability, is expected to drive operational excellence in the coming years.
“With Khan stepping in as COO, Apple is reinforcing its focus on innovation and environmental leadership,” said a technology analyst from a leading investment firm. “His expertise is expected to bring more resilience to Apple’s global operations.”
Born in India and raised in Singapore, Khan now joins the ranks of prominent Indian-origin executives leading major international technology firms. His appointment reflects Apple’s continued investment in diverse and globally experienced leadership.
As he assumes his new role, Khan is expected to further strengthen Apple’s supply chain strategy, continue the transition to greener manufacturing practices, and support the company’s broader sustainability and innovation goals.
The leadership change underscores Apple’s long-term vision of aligning operational excellence with environmental responsibility, and Sabih Khan’s elevation signals the company’s commitment to that path.
