Cricketer Yash Dayal Files Police Complaint Alleging Blackmail and Theft, Denies Harassment Claims

Yash Dayal sexual harassment case

July 11,2025 — Indian cricketer Yash Dayal has firmly denied recent allegations of sexual harassment, stating that he is instead the victim of a blackmail and theft attempt. The fast bowler has filed a formal police complaint at Cubbon Park police station in Bengaluru, alleging that a woman stole valuables from his hotel room and later tried to extort money by threatening to accuse him publicly.

In his complaint, Dayal claimed that the woman, who had previously been in contact with him, gained access to his hotel room and stole cash and personal belongings, including documents. According to the FIR, she then demanded a financial settlement in exchange for not posting false allegations against him on social media.

The complaint comes after a series of posts surfaced online accusing Dayal of inappropriate behaviour. In response, the cricketer has taken legal steps to defend his reputation and has urged the public to refrain from making assumptions until the investigation is complete.

A senior officer at Cubbon Park police station confirmed that a complaint has been registered and a preliminary investigation is underway. “We are verifying the claims made by Mr. Dayal. CCTV footage from the hotel and witness statements are being collected,” the officer said.

Dayal, who has played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and made a mark in domestic cricket, issued a statement through his legal counsel, calling the allegations “malicious, baseless, and an attempt to defame.” He added that he has full confidence in the legal process and will cooperate fully with the investigation.

Officials from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and Dayal’s IPL franchise have been briefed about the situation. While no official statement has been made, internal sources have indicated that they are monitoring the developments closely and will take appropriate action based on the outcome of the inquiry.

Legal analysts suggest that if the woman is found to have fabricated the allegations, she could face serious charges including criminal intimidation, extortion, and theft under the Indian Penal Code. The Bengaluru police have also asked the hotel management to provide relevant surveillance footage and access logs to support the investigation.

The incident has triggered widespread discussion across social media and news platforms, with fans and commentators urging a fair and unbiased probe into the matter. Authorities have requested the media to refrain from speculative reporting until facts are verified.

As the investigation progresses, Yash Dayal remains focused on clearing his name, stating that he will not allow false allegations to derail his cricketing career or personal life. The case is expected to see further developments in the coming days as police continue their inquiry.
