In a significant push towards employment generation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to distribute more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates across various government departments on Saturday, July 13. This distribution drive will be conducted under the ongoing Rozgar Mela initiative, a flagship employment scheme launched to fill vacancies in central government ministries and departments.

The Rozgar Mela, an initiative championed by the central government, aims to provide employment opportunities to the youth by expediting the recruitment process in multiple government sectors. Since its inception in October 2022, the scheme has facilitated the recruitment of over 10 lakh (1 million) candidates. The latest phase continues this effort, with 51,000 youth poised to receive appointment letters, marking another milestone in the government’s employment outreach.

Prime Minister Modi will address the new recruits virtually, emphasizing the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and capacity-building in the public sector. These fresh appointees will be placed in various departments such as the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Railways, and the Department of Posts, among others.

The appointment letters will be distributed as part of a simultaneous pan-India event, organized across 45 locations. Senior government officials and Union Ministers will personally hand over the letters to selected candidates at these venues.

Government sources have reiterated that the recruitment is being carried out in mission mode, ensuring transparency and merit-based selection. The drive not only provides direct employment but also aims to enhance service delivery in public departments by filling critical vacancies.

Speaking about the event, a senior official from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) noted, “The Rozgar Mela initiative is transforming the employment landscape in India by fast-tracking government hiring processes. The Prime Minister’s direct engagement with new recruits boosts morale and underlines the importance of public service.”

Apart from issuing appointment letters, the Rozgar Mela initiative includes on-the-job training and skill enhancement through the Karmayogi Prarambh module, an online orientation program designed for new government employees. This digital platform helps inductees understand their roles and responsibilities better, thereby ensuring smoother assimilation into government service.

The Modi government has consistently highlighted employment generation as one of its top priorities, especially in the post-pandemic recovery phase. With India’s youth population forming a significant segment of the demographic structure, initiatives like Rozgar Mela aim to tap into their potential and contribute to nation-building.
