Cab Drivers at Pune Airport Face Ban for Refusing Rides

Pune Airport cab refusal

July 18,2025 — Cab drivers at Pune International Airport who are found repeatedly refusing rides will be barred from entering the airport premises, AeroMall officials said on Thursday.

The move comes in response to a growing number of complaints from passengers, many of whom have alleged that drivers — particularly those affiliated with app-based services — routinely reject short-distance trips or ask for destination details before confirming rides.

“We are receiving multiple reports of drivers refusing service. Action will now be taken against repeat offenders, including a complete ban from the airport,” said a spokesperson for AeroMall, the agency managing airport transport operations.

A digital complaint system has been put in place to allow passengers to report such incidents in real time. The reports will be verified using CCTV footage and driver details, officials added.

Initially, drivers will be issued a warning. Continued refusal to comply with the rules will lead to denial of entry into the pick-up and drop-off zones.

Both Ola and Uber have been informed of the new policy and asked to ensure that their drivers follow protocol. Aggregator firms have responded positively, and internal advisories have reportedly been issued.

Pune Airport has seen a rise in passenger traffic in recent months, and officials said the crackdown is aimed at ensuring smoother ground transport and protecting passenger rights.

Transport officials indicated that if the policy proves effective, similar steps may be implemented at other key transit hubs in the city.
