The facility will be located in the Shivajinagar area and is aimed at providing a conducive learning environment to students preparing for competitive exams such as UPSC, MPSC, NEET, and JEE.
The proposed facility will be fully equipped with modern amenities including high-speed internet, air conditioning, ergonomic furniture, and a wide range of academic resources. The initiative will operate on a non-profit basis and will remain open throughout the week, with extended hours during exam periods.
Speaking about the initiative, Punit Balan, entrepreneur and philanthropist, said, “There are many talented students who face obstacles simply because they do not have access to a quiet and well-equipped space to study. This project is aimed at removing that barrier and giving every student an equal opportunity to succeed.”
This effort is part of the Punit Balan Group’s broader commitment to social responsibility. The group has previously undertaken several community-focused initiatives, particularly in the areas of youth development, sports promotion, and cultural preservation.
Local education activists and community leaders have welcomed the announcement, calling it a timely intervention for students from economically weaker sections. While Pune is a hub of educational institutions, there remains a shortage of affordable and accessible study spaces, especially for students without the means to pay for private libraries or coaching centers.
The facility will also host regular mentorship sessions, career counseling workshops, and motivational talks by successful professionals and civil service officers. An application process will be introduced to ensure the facility is accessible to those who need it most.
Construction is expected to begin shortly, with the Punit Balan Group aiming to complete the project within the current academic year.
