August 1, 2025:
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., the country’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, has reported that the Dzire compact sedan became its highest-selling model in July 2025. The model outperformed other top performers in the company’s lineup, such as the Swift and Baleno, during a period when overall sales growth remained largely stagnant.

Despite sluggish market conditions and intensifying competition, the Dzire achieved domestic sales of over 18,000 units last month, reaffirming its strong position in the compact sedan segment. Maruti Suzuki’s cumulative sales between April and July 2025 have remained flat, impacted by rising fuel prices, cautious buyer sentiment, and a noticeable shift in consumer preference toward SUVs.

According to company officials, the Dzire’s continued success can be attributed to its fuel efficiency, affordable pricing, and strong brand trust among Indian buyers. The model is available in both petrol and CNG variants, offering mileage of up to 22.41 km/l for petrol and 31.12 km/kg for CNG, making it an economical choice in current market conditions.

“The Dzire offers a strong value proposition and remains popular among both individual customers and fleet operators,” said a senior Maruti Suzuki official, adding that consistent updates to the model have kept it relevant in a competitive segment.

The 2025 model of the Dzire features a refreshed design along with updated equipment such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, cruise control, rear AC vents, and enhanced safety features including dual airbags and ABS with EBD.

Priced starting at ₹6.59 lakh (ex-showroom), the Dzire continues to attract a broad consumer base, particularly in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, where buyers prioritize mileage, comfort, and ease of ownership. In contrast to urban markets where SUVs dominate, the compact sedan remains a preferred choice in semi-urban and rural areas.

Although the Indian passenger vehicle market is increasingly leaning toward SUVs, the Dzire’s performance indicates that demand for compact sedans remains strong among budget-conscious consumers. Analysts suggest that the model’s consistent sales underline the enduring appeal of efficient and reliable vehicles in a value-driven market.

Maruti Suzuki, which currently holds a dominant market share in the passenger vehicle segment, is expected to strengthen its product lineup with upcoming models in the hybrid and electric vehicle categories. However, the Dzire’s recent performance reinforces its role as a dependable pillar in the company’s portfolio during a transitional phase for the automotive sector.
