Maharashtra Deputy CM Sets 18-Month Target for Mumbai Infrastructure Overhaul

Pothole-free Mumbai infrastructure plan

Aug 11,2025: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister on Monday announced an 18-month programme to upgrade Mumbai’s infrastructure, with a focus on smooth roads, faster metro links, and improved cleanliness across the city.

The Deputy CM said that worn-out roads would be rebuilt using stronger materials and better drainage to withstand heavy rain, aiming to end recurring pothole issues.

Key metro corridors, including portions of Lines 2B, 4, and 7, are expected to be completed within the period, improving connectivity and reducing road congestion.

A sanitation drive will upgrade waste collection, modernise sewage systems, and deploy technology to track and improve garbage disposal efficiency.

The plan is expected to be a major campaign highlight for the ruling alliance in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, where both parties will contest together.

Officials say the strategy could significantly enhance transport, safety, and hygiene standards if completed as scheduled.
