August 13, 2025 — Swedish home furnishing giant IKEA has officially launched its first store in the Delhi-NCR region today at Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden. The 15,000 sq.ft. store features over 2,000 home furnishing products and a café serving Swedish delicacies, marking a significant milestone in IKEA’s expansion strategy in India.
The store adopts a compact city format designed to cater to urban customers, providing an accessible option for Delhi residents to experience IKEA’s range of products in person. While the majority of items can be purchased directly, the store also offers digital tools and on-site experts to help customers plan their home spaces effectively.
IKEA India CEO Patrik Antoni expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “Opening our first store in the heart of Delhi is a huge milestone. We aim to inspire Delhiites to see their homes differently, as home is where everything begins.”
The store layout reflects contemporary urban living, with multiple room settings that allow customers to visualize furniture in realistic home environments. The addition of a Swedish Café enhances the shopping experience, offering popular Swedish delicacies such as meatballs, pastries, and beverages.
This opening follows IKEA’s online presence in the Delhi-NCR market, which began earlier this year. The move reflects IKEA’s broader strategy to enhance accessibility in key urban centers across India, combining physical stores and digital services.
Looking ahead, IKEA plans to expand further in the Delhi-NCR region with larger-format stores in Gurugram by 2026 and in Noida by 2028. These stores are expected to carry an even wider range of home furnishing products and services, strengthening IKEA’s footprint in North India.
Analysts suggest that IKEA’s entry into Delhi-NCR could reshape the local home furnishing market by offering global-quality products at competitive prices. The company’s focus on combining in-store experiences with digital convenience aims to appeal to younger urban consumers who increasingly rely on online tools for home planning.
The Delhi-NCR store represents part of IKEA’s nationwide expansion, which has seen the brand open stores in cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Each store is designed to cater to local tastes while maintaining IKEA’s global standards of sustainability, affordability, and design.
With the inauguration of the Tagore Garden store, Delhi residents can now access a wide range of furniture, décor, and home essentials under one roof. The store’s opening is expected to attract significant footfall, particularly during weekends and public holidays, as IKEA brings its distinctive shopping experience to the region.
