August 14, 2025 — India is preparing to celebrate its 79th Independence Day on August 15, with the Indian Air Force (IAF) coordinating the major events at the Red Fort in New Delhi. The celebrations are expected to showcase national pride, unity, and the country’s defense capabilities.
This year’s theme, “Naya Bharat,” emphasizes India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the main ceremony, hoisting the national flag and addressing the nation. The event will open with a 21-gun salute and the national anthem, followed by a ceremonial Guard of Honour from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police.
A highlight of the celebrations will be the IAF’s aerial demonstrations. Two Mi-17 helicopters will perform a flower petal drop over the Red Fort, while a fly-past of various aircraft will showcase India’s air defense capabilities.
The Independence Day parade will feature all branches of the armed forces. Attendees will witness synchronized marches, military bands, and displays of indigenous equipment, highlighting India’s growing technological and defense advancements.
Security has been reinforced across the city. Authorities will use drones, aerial monitoring systems, and kite-catchers for surveillance, while ground personnel, spotters, and boats will ensure safety in strategic areas.
Citizens nationwide are encouraged to participate in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative by hoisting the national flag at their homes, promoting unity and patriotic engagement across the country.
For those unable to attend, the celebrations will be broadcast live on national television and official government channels, allowing everyone to join in the festivities.
As India marks its 79th year of independence, the event is expected to reflect the country’s journey from freedom to progress. With the IAF coordinating the celebrations, Independence Day 2025 promises to be a memorable display of patriotism, national strength, and civic pride.
