Three Workers Die in Building Collapse at Daryaganj, Delhi

August 20, 2025: A building under renovation near Sadbhavna Park in Daryaganj, central Delhi, collapsed on Wednesday, killing three workers on site. The deceased have been identified as Zubair, Gulsagar, and Taufiq, police officials said.

Rescue teams, including the Delhi Fire Service and local police, arrived quickly and recovered the bodies. The victims were taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital for post-mortem procedures. Several other workers who suffered injuries are receiving medical care at the same hospital.

Authorities said the structure was being renovated when it collapsed. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has launched an inquiry to determine the reasons behind the accident.

This tragic event raises questions about construction safety in Delhi. Experts note that unsafe modifications, poor-quality materials, and lack of adherence to safety codes often contribute to such accidents. Officials have urged strict compliance with building regulations to prevent similar incidents.

The incident has left the community mourning the loss of the three workers while investigations continue to hold responsible parties accountable and reinforce safety measures in construction projects.
