August 26, 2025 — Google has announced the return of at least one round of in-person interviews for engineering and programming roles, citing widespread AI-assisted cheating in virtual assessments. Speaking recently, Mr. Pichai said, “We are making sure we’ll introduce at least one round of in-person interviews for people, just to make sure the fundamentals are there.” He emphasized that the move reflects Google’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its recruitment process, particularly as AI tools become increasingly accessible to job applicants.
