Ganesh Chaturthi pandal tours

August 30, 2025:
The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has announced special pandal-hopping tours across Mumbai for Ganesh Chaturthi 2025, in collaboration with tour guide associations. The initiative is designed to help locals and tourists experience the cultural and festive atmosphere of Ganeshotsav in an organized manner.

Ganesh Chaturthi, Maharashtra’s most prominent festival, attracts millions of visitors to Mumbai every year. The city’s elaborate pandals and artistic idols are a major draw, often making it difficult for newcomers and tourists to navigate the crowded celebrations. MTDC’s guided tours aim to address this challenge by offering curated itineraries and professional guidance.

The tours will cover iconic pandals such as Lalbaugcha Raja, GSB Seva Mandal, and Andhericha Raja, along with several neighborhood installations known for creativity and community participation. Certified guides will accompany each group, sharing insights into the history of Ganeshotsav, the craftsmanship of idol-making, and the significance of community celebrations. Multilingual guides will also be available for international tourists.

MTDC officials said the initiative highlights Maharashtra’s cultural richness while boosting tourism. “Ganeshotsav is more than a religious event; it is a global cultural attraction. Through these tours, visitors can experience the festival in a structured, safe, and meaningful way,” an official spokesperson stated.

The tours will be offered in half-day, full-day, and evening packages, with transport provided through air-conditioned buses. Special arrangements will include priority entry at select pandals, facilities for senior citizens and differently-abled visitors, and online booking through the MTDC website and mobile application.

Tourism experts believe the initiative will attract significant participation from both domestic and international visitors, creating opportunities for local artisans, businesses, and the hospitality sector. “This program ensures tourists not only see the idols but also understand the traditions and stories behind the festival,” said a representative of the Mumbai Tour Guides Association.

As Mumbai prepares for Ganesh Chaturthi 2025, the pandal-hopping tours are expected to add a new dimension to the city’s celebrations, blending tradition with modern tourism practices. Bookings for the tours will open in early September.
