Gujarat Emerges as India’s Export Leader in FY 2024-25 with ₹9.83 Lakh Crore Shipments

Gujarat export chart 2024

State contributes 26.6% of nation’s total exports, driven by strong industrial output and infrastructure

August 6,2025:
Gujarat has emerged as India’s highest exporting state for the financial year 2024-25, recording total exports worth ₹9.83 lakh crore. As per official data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the state accounted for 26.6% of the country’s overall exports during the year.

This marks a continued trend of Gujarat’s leadership in outbound trade, supported by its extensive industrial base, well-developed logistics facilities, and export-oriented policies. The state has maintained its top position due to consistent performance across key sectors including petroleum products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and engineering goods.

A significant contributor to this export volume is the petroleum refining sector, with large-scale operations located in Jamnagar. In addition, the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries — particularly in regions such as Dahej, Bharuch, and Vadodara — have played a major role in boosting export figures. Engineering goods from Rajkot and textile products from Surat have further added to the state’s diversified export basket.

Trade analysts note that Gujarat’s performance reflects the outcome of strategic investment in industrial infrastructure and ease-of-business measures. Ports such as Mundra, Kandla, Hazira, and Dahej serve as major gateways for exports, offering efficient connectivity to global markets. The presence of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and dedicated freight corridors has also enhanced export capacity and logistics efficiency.

Gujarat’s contribution is considered vital to India’s broader export ambitions. With national exports crossing ₹37 lakh crore in 2024-25, the state alone accounted for more than one-fourth of the total. Other states including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka also featured prominently in the list of top exporters, but Gujarat remained well ahead in both volume and growth.

Officials have emphasized that the state’s export momentum is expected to continue, especially with upcoming projects in green energy, advanced manufacturing, and logistics development. The Gujarat government has announced plans to expand industrial zones and promote exports in emerging sectors such as electronics, renewable energy, and agro-processing.

Experts believe that Gujarat’s export strength not only enhances its own economic footprint but also contributes significantly to national growth targets. As India aims to strengthen its position in global trade, states like Gujarat are likely to play a pivotal role in achieving long-term export goals.
