In a serious breach of national security, authorities have arrested a health worker in Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly leaking sensitive information related to the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) to a suspected Pakistani intelligence operative. The accused, identified as a contractual employee at a local health department facility, was apprehended following a sustained surveillance operation conducted by Indian intelligence agencies.
According to official sources, the health worker had been in regular contact with an individual believed to be affiliated with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The individual, operating under the guise of a civilian identity, reportedly solicited details on troop movements, deployment strategies, and logistical arrangements concerning the BSF and Air Force installations in the border region.
Authorities disclosed that the accused had been communicating through encrypted messaging platforms, making the information transfer difficult to detect initially. The arrest was made after concrete evidence was gathered through digital forensics and human intelligence inputs.
“The individual was working under the pretext of a medical employee but had been in active contact with Pakistani handlers for several months,” a senior official from the Jammu and Kashmir Police stated. “The nature of the shared information posed a significant threat to operational security along the border.”
The accused has been booked under the Official Secrets Act, and further investigations are ongoing to determine whether additional accomplices were involved. Officials are also examining the extent of the data breach and whether any classified information was compromised that could endanger national interests.
