Mumbai, May 5, 2025
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) officially declared the Class 12 (HSC) results today, bringing an end to the anxious wait of nearly 14 lakh students across the state. The results were announced on the board’s official website mahresult.nic.in, and the link went live at 1 PM.

This year, the overall pass percentage stands at 91.97%, marking a slight improvement over last year’s 91.25%. Girls have once again outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 94.54%, compared to 89.32% among boys.

Pune division recorded the highest pass percentage at 94.18%, while Nagpur reported the lowest at 89.74%. Mumbai division, which sees a significant number of candidates every year, registered a pass rate of 91.23%.

Here’s a look at the division-wise performance:

MSBSHSE Chairperson Sharad Gosavi praised the efforts of students, teachers, and parents. “Despite challenges including the extended academic calendar and erratic weather in several regions, students have shown exemplary resilience,” Gosavi said during a press briefing today.

Science vs Commerce vs Arts

Among streams, the Science stream posted the highest success rate at 96.21%, followed by Commerce at 91.02%, and Arts at 88.75%. The vocational stream saw a respectable performance too, with 90.12% students clearing the exams.

Tech-Enabled Results

In line with digital transformation efforts, MSBSHSE ensured a glitch-free result declaration process this year. Students were able to access their mark sheets through the official portals and DigiLocker without any major downtime, according to the Maharashtra Education Department.

Cybersecurity experts were also roped in to monitor high web traffic and prevent server overload. The board received appreciation from parents and students for maintaining transparency and punctuality.

Mental Health and Post-Result Guidance

Acknowledging the mental stress that follows results, the board has launched a 24×7 student helpline (1800-233-1918) for career counseling and emotional support. Mental health professionals and trained educators are on call to guide students in choosing appropriate courses and managing expectations.

Dr. Anita Deshmukh, a child psychologist in Mumbai, welcomed this initiative: “Academic results are important, but it’s equally vital to support students emotionally. The helpline can be a lifeline for many.”

What’s Next?

Students can apply for re-evaluation or photocopy of answer sheets via the board’s official site starting May 6. The window for applications will remain open until May 15.

Admissions to undergraduate courses across Maharashtra will now pick up pace, with several universities expected to release their merit list schedules by next week.

As the Class of 2025 steps into the next phase of their academic journey, today marks both a culmination and a beginning — one that’s already setting a positive tone for the future.
