In the wake of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists on April 22, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a stern warning to the perpetrators. Addressing a public gathering in Bihar’s Madhubani district on April 24, Modi declared that India would pursue the terrorists and their backers to the “ends of the Earth,” ensuring that justice is delivered.
The attack, executed by four militants affiliated with the group known as Kashmir Resistance, targeted a popular tourist resort, marking one of the deadliest assaults on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The assailants reportedly singled out victims based on religious identity, demanding they recite Islamic verses before opening fire.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the nation’s unwavering resolve against terrorism. India is committed to locating, monitoring, and bringing every terrorist and their supporters to justice,” he affirmed. “We will follow them wherever they go. Terrorism will never break the spirit of our nation. Terrorism will not go unpunished.”
The Prime Minister also called for a moment of silence to honor the victims, urging unity and collective mourning. “Let us all stand together in this moment of grief and observe a one-minute silence to pay homage to the family members whom we lost in the Pahalgam terror attack,” he said.
The Indian government has implemented various diplomatic and strategic actions in reaction to the attack. These include suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the main land border with Pakistan, and downgrading diplomatic ties by ordering Pakistani defense advisers to leave and reducing its diplomatic staff in Islamabad.
The international community has expressed solidarity with India. Leaders from various countries have condemned the attack and supported India’s right to defend its citizens. The United States and the United Kingdom, among others, have offered condolences and assistance in combating terrorism.
