Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra Booked in ₹60 Crore Financial Case

Shilpa Shetty Raj Kundra case

August 14, 2025: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra are under investigation by Mumbai’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) following allegations of defrauding businessman Deepak Kothari of over ₹60 crore. The case concerns transactions linked to their former company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, dating from 2015 to 2023.

Deepak Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services Ltd, claims the funds he provided for business purposes were allegedly diverted for personal use. The complaint also names another individual in connection with the matter. The EOW has initiated an inquiry to verify the claims.

Responding to the allegations, Shetty and Kundra have denied any misconduct. Their legal representatives said the issue was previously addressed by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in 2024 and stressed that the dispute does not involve criminal intent. They have assured authorities of their full cooperation.

The case has generated significant attention on social media, with public debates focusing on accountability and financial transparency for high-profile personalities. Legal experts note that the outcome may have broader implications for celebrity-led business ventures.

As the investigation continues, updates from the EOW are expected. The case highlights the importance of clear and ethical financial practices, particularly in transactions involving public figures and substantial sums of money.
