Noida International Airport Issues Height Restriction Advisory for 20 Km Radius

July 12,2025 – Authorities at the under-construction Noida International Airport have issued a formal advisory imposing strict height restrictions on buildings and structures within a 20-kilometre radius of the airport site. The move aims to ensure the safety of flight operations as construction of the airport nears completion.

The advisory, circulated by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), the special purpose vehicle responsible for the development of the airport, directs builders, developers, local governing bodies, and other stakeholders to comply with the prescribed vertical limits. These restrictions are aligned with safety standards set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

“All existing and future constructions within the designated zone must obtain necessary clearances and adhere to the height norms specified,” the advisory stated. The authorities emphasized that non-compliance could obstruct flight paths and pose serious risks to aircraft during take-off and landing operations.

The height restrictions are particularly significant for regions undergoing rapid urbanisation, such as Jewar, Dankaur, and parts of Greater Noida. Real estate developers planning high-rise projects in these areas are now required to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the aviation authorities before proceeding.

YIAPL officials highlighted that the measures are intended not only to maintain clear airspace but also to support the safe and efficient functioning of the airport in the long term. “This is a critical step to ensure aviation safety and to prevent future conflicts between urban development and airport operations,” an official said.

The advisory also includes additional guidelines aimed at eliminating other potential hazards. These include restrictions on smoke-emitting industries, structures that attract birds, and those that could interfere with navigational equipment or communication systems used by aircraft.

Real estate experts have acknowledged the advisory as a necessary development for the region. While it may impact the approval process for certain high-rise projects, it is expected to encourage more responsible urban planning. “This move will help create a safer air corridor while ensuring planned development around the airport,” said a senior Noida-based real estate consultant.

Noida International Airport, located near Jewar in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district, is poised to become one of the largest airports in India. The first phase of the airport is expected to be operational by 2025, with significant progress already made on key infrastructure components.

With the latest advisory, authorities have made it clear that cooperation from all stakeholders is essential to maintain global standards in aviation safety and to ensure seamless progress in the airport’s development.
