July 12,2025— Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is expected to return to Earth on July 15, after nearly three weeks aboard the International Space Station (ISS). The final re-entry date, however, will depend on weather conditions over the designated splashdown area.
Shukla and three fellow astronauts began their mission on June 25, launching from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This journey marked a major milestone for India’s space ambitions, as Shukla became the Indian with the longest single stay in space.
The re-entry capsule is scheduled to land in the Atlantic Ocean, but the timing hinges on a detailed review of atmospheric and sea conditions. Officials have confirmed that the final go-ahead will only be granted 24 hours before the planned landing, based on parameters like wind speed, wave height, and visibility.
