In a major boost to Indian tourism, Jaipur has secured the fifth spot on the list of the World’s Best Cities 2025, as published by Travel + Leisure, a leading international travel magazine. The ranking comes as part of the magazine’s annual reader-driven survey, which evaluates cities on key parameters such as historical appeal, cultural richness, hospitality, shopping options, and culinary experiences.
Commonly referred to as the Pink City, Jaipur earned high praise for its blend of heritage architecture, vibrant local markets, and traditional hospitality. The city’s inclusion in the top five reflects growing global interest in destinations that preserve cultural identity while catering to modern travel preferences.
Jaipur stands distinguished as the only Indian city to feature in this year’s top ten. It is also known for housing three UNESCO World Heritage Sites — Amber Fort, Jantar Mantar, and the Historic Walled City, recognized for its distinctive urban planning and pink sandstone buildings.
Officials from the Rajasthan Tourism Department welcomed the announcement, calling it a “proud moment” for the state and a testament to the efforts being made to promote sustainable and heritage-focused tourism. “This recognition highlights Jaipur’s appeal as a destination where history, art, and modern comfort come together,” an official stated.
Tourists visiting Jaipur can experience everything from regal palaces and ancient forts to bustling bazaars offering handcrafted jewelry, block-printed textiles, traditional footwear, and local art. Popular markets such as Johari Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar, and Tripolia Bazaar remain key attractions for both domestic and international travelers.
The city is also well known for its culinary diversity, offering a wide range of Rajasthani delicacies, including dal baati churma, laal maas, and gatte ki sabzi. Coupled with its growing number of heritage hotels and boutique accommodations, Jaipur offers visitors a culturally immersive and comfortable experience.
According to Travel + Leisure, readers noted Jaipur’s warm atmosphere, architectural grandeur, and authentic local experiences as primary reasons for its high ranking. The survey results are expected to further enhance Jaipur’s profile as a must-visit destination in South Asia.
