July 26, 2025: Maharashtra has officially opened its first-ever glass skywalk bridge over the picturesque Napne Waterfall in Sindhudurg district, marking a significant milestone in the state’s eco-tourism development. The newly inaugurated structure is now open to visitors, offering panoramic views of the lush Konkan landscape and a thrilling experience for tourists and adventure enthusiasts.
The transparent glass bridge, constructed with high-strength materials, is suspended above the roaring waterfall, giving visitors a unique opportunity to witness the cascading waters directly beneath their feet. Built at a considerable height, the structure provides a 360-degree view of the surrounding forests and the Western Ghats, making it a major attraction for nature lovers and photographers.
According to tourism officials, the skywalk was designed with strict safety standards. Reinforced glass panels, steel framing, and secure railings have been installed to ensure visitor safety. A controlled entry system has also been implemented to limit the number of people on the bridge at any given time, maintaining structural integrity and enhancing the overall experience.
Maharashtra Tourism Minister, in a statement, said, “The launch of this glass skywalk is a major step forward in promoting sustainable and adventure tourism in the state. Sindhudurg, with its natural beauty and rich biodiversity, deserves global attention, and this initiative will certainly help in putting it on the international tourism map.”
The skywalk is expected to boost local tourism and benefit nearby villages economically. Local businesses, including homestays, restaurants, and transport services, are preparing to accommodate the anticipated increase in footfall. The district administration has also announced plans to develop additional amenities such as rest areas, information kiosks, and guided tour packages around the site.
Napne Waterfall, already known for its scenic charm and tranquility, is now set to become a flagship destination in Maharashtra’s eco-tourism circuit. The region’s accessibility and natural appeal are expected to draw a diverse crowd—from weekend travelers and families to social media influencers and thrill-seekers.
