In a shocking development from the entertainment industry, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt’s former personal assistant has been arrested by Mumbai Police for allegedly duping the actress of over ₹76 lakh.
The accused, identified as Archana Mishra, reportedly worked with Bhatt for over a year and was responsible for managing several aspects of her professional and personal schedules, including financial dealings. According to police officials, Mishra misused her access to siphon off funds through fraudulent means, including fake invoices and manipulated payments.
The financial irregularities came to light during an internal audit initiated by Alia Bhatt’s team earlier this year. Following the discovery, the matter was reported to the Mumbai Police’s economic offences wing, which launched an investigation. Mishra was arrested earlier this week and has been booked under Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 468 (forgery) of the Indian Penal Code.
A senior official from the investigation team stated, “The accused created false documents and convinced the actress’s team to approve payments for services that were never rendered. These funds were eventually transferred to her personal accounts.”
While Alia Bhatt has not released an official statement, sources close to the actress confirmed that she is cooperating fully with the investigation and is committed to pursuing legal action. The actress has also strengthened internal financial protocols following the incident.
