July 11, 2025 — In a major push towards strengthening Karnataka’s public education system, the Embassy Group has signed a ₹15 crore Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Education, Government of Karnataka. The agreement, signed under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aims to enhance infrastructure and learning outcomes across government schools in the state.
The MoU outlines a multi-year commitment by Embassy Group to support a range of educational interventions, including the development of smart classrooms, improved sanitation facilities, digital learning tools, teacher training, and student wellness programs. The initiative is expected to directly benefit thousands of students, particularly in underserved rural and urban communities.
Karnataka’s Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, Madhu Bangarappa, lauded the partnership during the signing ceremony, calling it a model for future public-private collaboration. “We are thankful to the Embassy Group for stepping forward with this generous contribution. Strengthening our school ecosystem requires such committed partnerships that align with our goal of delivering quality education for all,” he said.
The Embassy Group has been active in the education space for over a decade through various CSR initiatives. This new ₹15 crore investment expands the company’s reach, building on previous efforts that have already impacted more than 100 government schools and benefitted over 30,000 students in Karnataka.
Aarti Mohan, Head of CSR at Embassy Group, said the initiative aligns with both national and global education goals. “Our vision is to create inclusive, safe, and progressive learning environments for every child. This MoU with the Karnataka government reflects our commitment to driving systemic change in education,” she said.
The project is also in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes digital learning, foundational literacy, and infrastructure development in public schools. Moreover, the move contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
Under the agreement, Embassy Group will collaborate with the state education department and local NGOs for on-ground execution, monitoring, and impact assessment. The partnership is expected to roll out in phases, starting with priority districts identified by the government.
Experts believe that CSR contributions such as this can play a critical role in bridging resource gaps in the education sector. With government budgets often stretched, private sector involvement brings not only funding but also innovation and efficiency in implementation.
This ₹15 crore initiative comes at a time when the Karnataka government is focusing on transforming its school ecosystem through technology integration and infrastructural upgrades. The Embassy Group’s involvement is being seen as a catalyst for similar CSR engagements by other corporates in the state and beyond.
