Israel Says Iran Severely Violated Ceasefire, Warns of Forceful Response

Israel Iran conflict

Tel Aviv, June 24: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday accused Iran of severely violating the ongoing ceasefire in the region and warned that any further aggression would be met with a strong and forceful response. The development has triggered fresh concerns of an escalation in tensions between the two nations.

According to the IDF, Iranian-backed militias launched multiple drone and missile attacks in recent days targeting Israeli-controlled areas along the Syrian and Lebanese borders. Military officials described the attacks as “repeated and severe violations” of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect earlier this year.

“Iran has not only breached the ceasefire but has actively supported militant operations aimed at destabilizing the region,” said IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari. “Such behavior will not be tolerated. Israel will act with full force if necessary to protect its citizens and sovereignty.”

The ceasefire, which was brokered through international mediation in March 2025, had brought temporary calm to a region plagued by months of clashes and rocket fire. Monday’s allegations mark a serious deterioration of that fragile truce.

In response, Israel has reportedly increased military readiness along its northern border, with additional air and ground forces placed on alert.

Meanwhile, Iran has rejected the accusations, calling them “fabricated and politically motivated.” A spokesperson from Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “Iran is committed to regional peace. The allegations by Israel are an attempt to deflect from its own aggressive actions.”

However, intelligence sources in the region have indicated increased movement of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) near the Iraqi and Syrian frontiers, prompting concern among Western governments.

The United Nations has called for calm and urged both sides to avoid further escalation. The UN Security Council is expected to hold an emergency meeting to assess the situation and explore diplomatic options.

The United States has expressed support for Israel’s right to defend itself, but also emphasized the need for restraint. “We are closely monitoring the situation and encourage both parties to de-escalate through dialogue,” a U.S. State Department official said.

Defense analysts believe the renewed hostilities could threaten wider regional stability, particularly in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq—areas where Iran maintains influence and Israel holds significant strategic interests.

The situation remains tense as both sides stand firm on their positions, and the international community watches closely to see whether diplomacy can prevent a broader conflict.
