July 25, 2025: Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, has been ranked the fifth-best city in the world by the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2025. The annual survey, which gathers input from thousands of global readers, recognises cities for their historical significance, cultural richness, hospitality, shopping experiences, and overall travel appeal.
Jaipur’s inclusion among the top five cities worldwide marks a significant achievement for Indian tourism. The city, renowned for its vibrant markets, regal architecture, and warm hospitality, continues to attract tourists from across the globe. It is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites—Amer Fort, Jantar Mantar, and the Walled City—making it a key cultural and heritage destination in India.
According to officials from the Rajasthan Tourism Department, the city has witnessed a 23% rise in foreign tourist arrivals in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year. This increase is attributed to enhanced air connectivity, the promotion of cultural tourism, and improved tourist infrastructure.
“Jaipur’s recognition on a global platform is a testament to the efforts made by the government and the people of Rajasthan in preserving our heritage and promoting sustainable tourism,” said Rajasthan Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh. “We are committed to making Jaipur even more welcoming for travelers from all over the world.”
Readers of Travel + Leisure highlighted Jaipur’s unique ability to blend traditional charm with modern amenities. The city’s royal palaces, including the Hawa Mahal and City Palace, as well as local experiences like shopping in Johari Bazaar and attending festivals such as the Jaipur Literature Festival, were among the features most appreciated by voters.
Hospitality also played a key role in Jaipur’s ranking. From luxury heritage hotels such as the Rambagh Palace to locally run boutique accommodations, the city has received praise for offering exceptional service and a memorable stay.
Tourism experts believe that this recognition will further boost Jaipur’s global visibility, attracting more international tourists and generating employment in related sectors such as handicrafts, textiles, hospitality, and local transport.
With Jaipur’s growing prominence on the world stage, authorities are also focusing on sustainable tourism initiatives to manage increased footfall while preserving the city’s cultural heritage.
Jaipur joins the list of globally celebrated destinations in the Travel + Leisure 2025 survey, affirming its status as a must-visit city. As the tourism sector continues to rebound post-pandemic, the Pink City’s rising appeal is set to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s travel narrative on the global map.
