2 July, 2025-Reliance Jio is on track to become the world’s largest Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) provider by the end of 2025, according to recent industry reports. With its rapid rollout of 5G-based services and aggressive expansion strategy, the telecom major is expected to surpass global players from the US and China in total FWA user base.

Jio’s FWA service, branded as JioAirFiber, has witnessed exceptional growth since its launch in 2023. Industry estimates suggest the company has already crossed 40 million subscribers and is continuing to add users at a record pace. The FWA model uses 5G or 4G networks to deliver high-speed internet to homes and businesses without the need for traditional fiber-optic or cable infrastructure.

According to a recent report by Dell’Oro Group, Jio is currently among the top FWA providers globally. With its widespread network infrastructure, affordable pricing, and strategic focus on underserved regions, it is well-positioned to claim the top spot in the coming months.

The service has been instrumental in expanding digital connectivity across urban and rural India. By offering easy installation, low latency, and high-speed internet, JioAirFiber has enabled broader access to online education, remote work, telemedicine, and digital entertainment. The company’s focus on last-mile delivery has helped it penetrate areas that were previously beyond the reach of traditional broadband services.

Telecom experts have noted that Jio’s approach is setting a global benchmark. Its success in India is drawing interest from telecom operators in developing countries across Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, who are exploring potential collaborations and knowledge-sharing agreements.

Despite its strong growth trajectory, the company may face challenges including network capacity constraints, spectrum management, and maintaining service quality with a growing user base. Regulatory considerations and competition from other domestic and international providers could also impact its expansion plans.

However, Reliance Jio continues to invest heavily in infrastructure, spectrum acquisition, and R&D to maintain its growth momentum. The company’s strategic emphasis on digital inclusivity and innovation positions it as a key player in the future of global broadband connectivity.

If current trends continue, Jio is expected to officially become the world’s largest FWA provider by the end of 2025, marking a major milestone in India’s digital transformation journey.
