In a significant boost to Karnataka’s ongoing flood-relief efforts, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday announced an additional ₹1,033.6 crore grant aimed at supporting farmers whose crops were devastated during this year’s floods. The announcement reflects the state government’s intensified commitment to agricultural recovery amid widespread monsoon destruction.
Additional Grant for Massive Crop Losses
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister confirmed that the supplementary grant is meant to compensate for extensive losses across 14.58 lakh hectares of farmland, impacting nearly 14.24 lakh farmers. The funds have already been transferred to district administrations and will be disbursed directly to beneficiaries through the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS), ensuring transparency and timely assistance.
The financial support comes on top of earlier allocations released under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), strengthening the state’s relief framework after unprecedented damage to crops and rural infrastructure.
Scale of Damage and Relief Measures
The state government’s assessment revealed substantial agricultural and property losses across several districts affected by the heavy rains. To accelerate recovery and reconstruction, Karnataka has also sought the Centre’s support, requesting over ₹1,521 crore for rebuilding efforts and ₹614.9 crore for additional farmer compensation. Overall flood-related damage for the season has been pegged at more than ₹3,455 crore.

The infusion of funds aims to help farmers prepare for the next cropping cycle, meet immediate household expenses, and stabilize their income after weeks of uncertainty.
Officials noted that the use of digital payment mechanisms will reduce delays and help maintain accountability in the disbursement process. The wide coverage of beneficiaries also signals the government’s intent to ensure that both small and marginal farmers receive due support.
Part of Broader Flood-Relief Framework
This announcement follows previous SDRF releases to Karnataka and neighbouring states earlier in the year, signaling the Centre and state’s joint effort to mitigate large-scale monsoon damage. Karnataka’s latest move represents a strong commitment to addressing rural distress and fast-tracking recovery across flood-affected zones.
