PM Modi Inaugurates New Chhattisgarh Assembly, Launches Development Projects Worth ₹14,000 Crore

PM Modi inaugurates Chhattisgarh Assembly

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Chhattisgarh Assembly building in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar on November 1, 2025, marking the state’s 25th foundation day. Alongside this landmark event, he unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and launched developmental projects worth over ₹14,000 crore, reinforcing his government’s focus on infrastructure expansion, governance reform, and regional development.

The newly inaugurated Assembly complex stands as a modern symbol of Chhattisgarh’s evolution since its formation in 2000. Built at a cost of approximately ₹324 crore, the structure incorporates sustainable and eco-friendly elements, including solar power facilities and rainwater-harvesting systems. Prime Minister Modi described the building as a “pilgrimage site of democracy,” emphasizing that it represents not merely a legislative space but also a beacon of the state’s aspirations and the people’s trust in democratic institutions.

In his address, the Prime Minister reflected on Chhattisgarh’s journey over the past 25 years, highlighting the transformation from a region once affected by left-wing extremism to one now positioned as a growing contributor to India’s progress. He asserted that India is moving toward eradicating Maoist and Naxal violence and that Chhattisgarh’s success demonstrates the power of good governance and inclusive development. Modi further urged legislators to ensure that every decision emerging from the Assembly reflects a spirit of service, development, and confidence in India’s future.

During the event, Modi announced and dedicated multiple projects totaling more than ₹14,260 crore, covering sectors such as road connectivity, petroleum infrastructure, healthcare, and social welfare. Among the major initiatives was the inauguration of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s new petroleum oil depot, which is expected to enhance fuel supply logistics in central India. Several new highways under the Bharatmala Pariyojana program and health infrastructure expansions were also launched, aimed at improving accessibility and promoting regional growth.

The unveiling of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s statue at the Assembly premises carried deep symbolic significance. Vajpayee, as the founding Prime Minister during Chhattisgarh’s formation in 2000, remains a revered figure in the state’s political and emotional landscape. Modi emphasized that the new Assembly and the projects inaugurated serve as a tribute to Vajpayee’s vision of development rooted in democracy and public participation.

The Prime Minister also noted that these projects align with India’s larger developmental goals leading up to the nation’s centenary of independence in 2047. The emphasis on infrastructure, renewable energy, and democratic consolidation underlines the government’s broader agenda of “Viksit Bharat” — a developed India.

The inauguration of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly building and the unveiling of large-scale infrastructure projects mark a pivotal chapter in the state’s ongoing development. By combining modern architectural achievement, democratic symbolism, and substantial investment, the initiative positions Chhattisgarh as a model for balanced growth and governance reform. The real measure of its success will depend on how effectively these projects are executed and how inclusively they serve the people of the state.
