August 2, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, providing much-needed financial support to millions of farmers across the country. The government disbursed over ₹18,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 9 crore eligible farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The announcement was made during a virtual event attended by farmers, agricultural officers, and senior government officials. Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering farmers and strengthening rural India.

“This is not just financial assistance; it is a recognition of the hard work of our annadatas. The PM-KISAN scheme has become a pillar of support for crores of farming families,” said the Prime Minister.

Launched in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme provides annual income support of ₹6,000 to landholding farmers in three equal installments of ₹2,000. With the latest installment, the total amount disbursed under the scheme has crossed ₹3.2 lakh crore, benefiting over 11 crore farmers to date.

The 20th installment comes at a critical time, as farmers gear up for the kharif season. According to officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the timely release of funds aims to ease input costs related to seeds, fertilizers, and other essential resources.

To receive the benefit, farmers were required to complete e-KYC and land record verification processes. The ministry had earlier urged farmers to update their details on the official PM-KISAN portal to avoid disqualification.

Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda said the scheme has significantly contributed to improving rural livelihoods and enhancing agricultural productivity. “PM-KISAN has brought transparency and efficiency into farmer welfare programs. It has played a major role in reducing rural distress,” he noted.

The release of the 20th installment also underscores the government’s broader vision of doubling farmers’ incomes and promoting inclusive growth in the agriculture sector. Officials highlighted that the scheme has helped increase financial inclusion and encouraged better investment in farming practices.

Farmers can check their beneficiary status and payment details through the official PM-KISAN website (pmkisan.gov.in). The government has advised all beneficiaries to ensure their bank accounts are linked with Aadhaar and that land records are regularly updated to continue receiving future installments without delay.

The next installment under the scheme is expected to be released later this year, subject to timely completion of verification and eligibility criteria.
