Pune Metro during Ganeshotsav

August 30, 2025 — Pune Metro has introduced extended operations during Ganeshotsav 2025 to accommodate the large crowds and ease traffic congestion during the festival. Services will run until 2 a.m. on regular festival days, while a continuous 41-hour service is scheduled for Anant Chaturdashi, the day of final Ganpati idol immersions.

The nonstop service will begin at 6 a.m. on September 6 and continue until 11 p.m. on September 7, providing seamless transportation for devotees participating in immersion processions. Metro authorities have emphasized that the extended schedule will help devotees reach popular Ganpati locations without facing delays.

Special arrangements have been made at Mandai Metro Station, which sees heavy footfall due to its proximity to the city’s famous “Manacha Ganpati.” For smooth movement, entry will be allowed through Gate No. 3 near the Lokmanya Tilak statue, while exits will be through Gate No. 2 on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road. These measures will remain in place until the morning of September 7.

To manage the increased passenger load, additional staff and ticket kiosks have been deployed across major stations. On the first day of Ganeshotsav, Pune Metro recorded over 2.28 lakh passengers, underscoring the importance of extending operational hours.

Authorities have encouraged residents and visitors to utilize the metro during the festival to avoid traffic congestion and ensure timely arrival at key celebration points. The 41-hour nonstop service is expected to make travel safer and more convenient during one of Pune’s most significant cultural events.

Pune Metro’s extended operations reflect its commitment to providing reliable transportation and enhancing the festival experience for thousands of devotees.
