A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Indian Premier League (IPL) player Yash Dayal following allegations of sexual harassment filed by a woman in Uttar Pradesh. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fast bowler now faces serious accusations that could impact both his legal standing and professional career.
According to police officials, the complaint was filed at a local police station in Prayagraj. The woman has accused Dayal of mental harassment and inappropriate behavior, reportedly spanning several months. As part of the complaint, the woman submitted digital evidence, including messages and call recordings, which she claims support her allegations.
“The FIR includes charges under relevant IPC sections related to sexual misconduct and mental abuse. An investigation has been initiated,” confirmed a senior police officer, adding that statements from both parties will be recorded as part of the inquiry.
At the time of reporting, neither RCB management nor the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released a public statement. However, sources suggest internal discussions are underway regarding the situation. It remains unclear whether disciplinary action will be taken by the franchise or the governing board during the ongoing investigation.
Yash Dayal, who gained recognition for his performances in the IPL and domestic tournaments, has not responded publicly to the allegations. The news has led to divided reactions among fans and the cricketing community. While some have urged for a thorough investigation before reaching conclusions, others are calling for his suspension pending legal proceedings.
On social media, the case has drawn considerable attention, with hashtags such as #YashDayal and #RCB trending across platforms. Discussions have intensified around the responsibilities of public figures and the need for accountability within Indian sports.
Legal experts have emphasized the importance of maintaining objectivity while the case is under investigation. “It is crucial to ensure a fair process for both the complainant and the accused. Premature judgment can harm reputations and affect justice,” said advocate Anjali Verma, a criminal law specialist.
This development has once again highlighted the broader issue of athlete conduct off the field. Calls for stricter enforcement of professional codes of behavior and timely action by sports bodies are growing louder.
As authorities continue to examine the case, the cricketing world awaits further developments that could have lasting implications for Yash Dayal’s career and the IPL’s player management policies.
