Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir – April 25, 2025: In a decisive counter-terrorism operation, security forces demolished the residences of two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives, Adil Hussain Thokar and Asif Sheikh, implicated in the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The coordinated action took place on Thursday night in the Anantnag and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir.

According to official sources, explosives were strategically placed within the homes of the suspects, leading to their complete destruction. The operation was part of an intensified crackdown on militant infrastructure following the April 22 assault on tourists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow. The attack, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, has been attributed to the Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group believed to be linked to LeT.
Adil Hussain Thokar, a resident of Anantnag district, is identified as a principal conspirator in the Pahalgam massacre. Intelligence reports suggest that Thokar underwent terror training in Pakistan and played a pivotal role in facilitating the movement and sheltering of the attackers. Asif Sheikh, hailing from Tral in Pulwama district, is suspected of being involved in the logistical planning of the assault.
The demolition of their homes serves as a stern warning to those involved in terrorist activities and their supporters. A senior security official stated, “This action underscores our zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. We will dismantle every support system that enables such heinous acts.”
The Pahalgam attack has significantly escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. In response, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, a critical water-sharing agreement, and downgraded diplomatic ties with Pakistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice and emphasizing India’s commitment to combating terrorism.
International reactions have been swift, with global leaders expressing solidarity with India and condemning the attack. The United States, United Kingdom, and China have all called for restraint and urged both nations to engage in dialogue to prevent further escalation.
The Resistance Front, which has taken credit for the assault, is widely regarded as a rebranded offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, allegedly created to disguise Pakistan’s role in cross-border terrorism. Indian intelligence agencies have been monitoring TRF’s activities, noting its increasing role in orchestrating attacks in the region.
The demolition of the terrorists’ homes is part of a broader strategy to dismantle the infrastructure supporting militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces have intensified search operations, aiming to apprehend remaining operatives and prevent future attacks.
As the region grapples with the aftermath of the Pahalgam tragedy, authorities urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The government has reiterated its commitment to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of all residents and visitors in the valley.
