UP Cabinet Approves ₹4,775 Crore Expressway Linking Agra-Lucknow and Purvanchal

UP Cabinet clears ₹4,775 crore expressway linking Agra-Lucknow and Purvanchal.

In a major step toward enhancing road connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, the state cabinet has approved a ₹4,775 crore expressway project that will connect the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Purvanchal Expressway. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.

The expressway is aimed at improving east-west connectivity across the state, ensuring faster travel and smoother transport of goods. The project will be executed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), which will oversee construction, land acquisition, and project implementation.

According to government sources, the new expressway will reduce travel time significantly and enhance regional economic integration by linking western, central, and eastern parts of the state. It is also expected to support the industrial corridors being developed under various state and central government infrastructure initiatives.

Officials stated that the proposed expressway will pass through key districts, though the final route map and length are yet to be disclosed. The construction is likely to begin by early 2026 after necessary environmental clearances and land acquisition are completed.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “This expressway will boost trade, tourism, and employment in the region. Our goal is to build a seamless network of high-speed roads to promote development and connectivity across Uttar Pradesh.”

This new project is part of the state’s broader expressway vision, which includes the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Ganga Expressway, and Gorakhpur Link Expressway. The upcoming link between the Agra-Lucknow and Purvanchal corridors is expected to significantly improve logistical efficiency, especially for freight movement across the state.

With this approval, the Yogi Adityanath-led government aims to accelerate its mission of transforming Uttar Pradesh into an infrastructure hub and contribute to its target of becoming a $1 trillion economy.
