WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature for iOS that will allow users to switch between multiple accounts on the same device, according to feature tracker WABetaInfo. The feature is currently available in the latest beta version (24.13.10.70) of WhatsApp for iOS, released through Apple’s TestFlight program.

The upcoming feature will enable users to link multiple WhatsApp accounts and switch between them without needing to log out or use additional devices. When a user switches accounts, WhatsApp will automatically load the chat history, calls, and notifications associated with the selected number. This functionality is expected to streamline communication for users managing both personal and professional accounts.

The multi-account support feature has already been rolled out to Android users and is now making its way to iPhone users. This move is expected to address long-standing demands from users who rely on WhatsApp for various aspects of daily communication, particularly business owners, freelancers, and professionals.

According to reports, each account will retain its own privacy settings, notification preferences, and chat backup data. This separation ensures user data remains secure and manageable across different profiles. The feature will also include individual two-step verification settings for each account, further enhancing account-level security.

While WhatsApp has not officially confirmed the public release date, sources indicate that the feature is still under testing and may be rolled out widely after successful evaluation in the beta phase. The feature’s inclusion reflects WhatsApp’s continued focus on expanding functionality and enhancing user experience, particularly for iOS users who previously lacked this flexibility.

In recent months, WhatsApp has introduced several key updates, including support for passkeys, improved group chat controls, and enhanced privacy tools. The addition of multi-account switching on iOS is seen as a strategic move by parent company Meta to keep pace with competitors and cater to a growing user base with diverse communication needs.

The feature is currently accessible only to selected beta testers and may undergo further refinements before a stable version is launched. Users interested in early access can apply to the beta program via TestFlight, subject to availability.

With this development, WhatsApp is set to become more versatile and user-friendly, especially for iPhone users managing multiple numbers. The new functionality is expected to boost productivity and convenience, aligning the iOS version with its Android counterpart.
