9 August, 2025 – Expanding its quick-commerce offerings, Zepto has rolled out Zepto Pharmacy, a service aimed at delivering medicines to customers in just 10 minutes. The launch was confirmed by co-founder and chief executive Aadit Palicha, who highlighted it as a significant step in the company’s growth journey.
The pharmacy service is currently operational in select localities across Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Before going live, Zepto conducted a year-long trial run to refine its processes, focusing on reliable delivery systems, a smooth customer experience, and compliance with medical distribution norms.
Palicha explained that the company is taking a measured approach to scaling this vertical. “Delivering medicines requires more than just speed—it demands strict quality control and adherence to regulations. We are committed to building a service that customers can trust,” he noted.
With this move, Zepto enters the competitive digital healthcare and online pharmacy space, where it will contend with well-established names such as Tata 1mg, PharmEasy, and Apollo 24/7. Several quick-commerce rivals have also begun testing pharmaceutical deliveries, making the segment one of the fastest-evolving areas in e-commerce.
Industry observers suggest that integrating medicine delivery into a quick-commerce model could boost customer loyalty, as healthcare products often generate repeat purchases. However, they caution that challenges remain—particularly around prescription verification, cold-chain management for sensitive drugs, and compliance with local pharmaceutical regulations.
Zepto’s move reflects a broader trend in India’s rapid delivery sector, where companies are diversifying beyond groceries and essentials to capture more of the consumer wallet. If the pharmacy service scales successfully while maintaining high operational standards, it could strengthen Zepto’s position as a frontrunner in the ultra-fast delivery market.
