August 23, 2025: Andhra Pradesh’s capital is set to witness a major development in sports infrastructure with plans for a 60,000-capacity, multi-purpose stadium. The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) confirmed today that it has formally requested 40 acres of land from the state government within the core capital region for the proposed facility.
ACA Honorary Secretary Sana Satish stated that the stadium is intended to host international cricket matches, concerts, and other large-scale events, making Amaravati a significant venue on India’s sports and entertainment map. “This facility will be designed to meet world-class standards and provide comprehensive training and recreational amenities,” he said.
The project is part of a wider vision to enhance sports facilities across the state. Alongside the stadium, the ACA plans to develop a sports city spanning 200 acres, including practice grounds, training academies, and infrastructure to support athletes at all levels. The initiative is also aimed at promoting cricket in every district of Andhra Pradesh, with scheduled tournaments to maintain active engagement throughout the year.
Officials have indicated that the stadium is expected to be completed in time for the 2029 National Games, strengthening the state’s position as a host for national and international sporting events. The project is anticipated to stimulate local employment, boost tourism, and contribute to the overall economic growth of the region.
Government sources confirmed their full support for the initiative, and discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are underway to facilitate future international fixtures at the venue.
With the construction of this stadium, Amaravati is expected to become a prominent destination for sports and cultural events in India.
