September 1, 2025: The government-regulated Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have announced a reduction in the price of commercial LPG cylinders by ₹51.50, effective from today. The revision applies to the 19 kg commercial cooking gas cylinders, while domestic LPG prices remain unchanged.
Following a decline in international LPG benchmark rates, OMCs have adjusted the pricing to provide relief to businesses that rely on commercial cooking gas. In Delhi, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced from ₹1,631.50 to ₹1,580. Similar reductions have been implemented across other major cities, including Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.
Industry experts said the price cut could ease operational costs for restaurants, caterers, and small-scale food businesses, which have been grappling with high energy expenses amid rising inflation. “This move is expected to bring some financial respite to commercial establishments, especially in urban areas where LPG usage is substantial,” noted a market analyst.
Despite the reduction in commercial LPG prices, domestic LPG cylinders, typically used in households, continue to be sold at the existing rates. Currently, a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder costs ₹1,115 in Delhi. The government maintains that domestic LPG pricing will continue to be regulated to protect household consumers from market volatility.
The revision reflects the ongoing trend of periodic LPG price adjustments linked to global crude oil and LPG rates. Analysts also expect that further price corrections may follow in the coming months if international fuel prices continue to fluctuate.
With this latest revision, commercial establishments across India are expected to experience immediate cost benefits, potentially supporting the food and hospitality sectors as they navigate operational challenges.
