July 14, 2025 — Hyundai Motor India has broadened its Aura compact sedan lineup by launching a new S AMT variant, priced at ₹8.07 lakh (ex-showroom). The addition is aimed at offering a more accessible automatic option for Indian customers seeking comfort, technology, and fuel efficiency within a competitive price range.
The newly launched Aura S AMT is equipped with Hyundai’s 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, capable of delivering 83 PS of power and 113.8 Nm of torque. It comes paired with a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), ensuring smoother gear shifts and greater ease in city driving conditions.
This variant builds on the feature set of its manual counterpart and includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear AC vents, steering-mounted controls, and electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors. On the safety front, the vehicle includes dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors, and seatbelt reminders.
Hyundai Motor India, in its official communication, stated that the introduction of the S AMT variant is in line with the brand’s focus on offering advanced and affordable mobility solutions tailored to Indian driving needs. The company expects the model to appeal especially to buyers seeking automatic transmission without moving into higher price brackets.
By positioning this AMT variant between the entry-level and top-end trims, Hyundai is clearly aiming to tap into the growing demand for automatic sedans in India. The Aura has already carved a niche for itself in the compact sedan segment, and this new addition strengthens its portfolio further.
With competition from models like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Tata Tigor, Hyundai’s latest move could help it consolidate its standing in the segment. The company is banking on Aura’s reputation for fuel efficiency, comfortable interiors, and low ownership costs to drive demand, especially in smaller cities and towns.
Bookings for the Hyundai Aura S AMT have begun at dealerships nationwide, and the model is now available for immediate purchase.
